This conference is an opportunity to network with other brand managers, product developers, business researchers, and China daily-life specialists. It is a chance to learn more about how ethnographic research happens in China, and a chance to share the latest insights about the emerging consumer cultures of China.

Ethnographic research - up-close and personal research that documents people's real daily lives, hopes, and dreams - offers new insights into the new China. Our speakers are drawn from both the academy and from the business-research world.

Pacific Ethnography is not alone in its approach to cultural research. We think the best cultural research happens without recruiting firms, and without interpreters, and with genuine participation in the lives of real people. Presenters in this conference are fluent (or at least conversant) in both Mandarin and English. If your interest is about ethnography in particular, you may wish to enroll in our Fieldwork Workshop on the first day of the conference.

After the first day Workshop, the conference kicks off. You'll have networking opportunities during coffee and tea time before the session. You'll join the group for off-site dinners. You'll walk through the neighborhood on your way to and from the Hotel (of course we can arrange alternative transportation is mobility is a concern). And you can make new professional connections during a no-host reception.
